There’s nothing worse than being caught blind by a problem with your transmission system, especially if it takes you off air. In this session, Steve Wilde of American Amplifier Technologies will share insights designed to help you stay on top of the most critical part of your broadcast air chain, as well as introduce tools that used to be unobtainium, but are now available to keep you in front of transmission system problems.

Speaker: Stephen Wilde, Chief Executive Officer, American Amplifier Technologies

Location: Tech Chat Theater

Large broadcasters are rethinking how broadcast operations are designed and operated at scale. As station footprints grow and operational complexity increases, traditional station-by-station operating models struggle to deliver the cost control, reliability, and agility required in today’s environment.

This session explores a centralized Broadcast Core operating model that combines shared, centrally managed capabilities with lightweight Edge functions close to affiliates. The approach focuses on pooling common capabilities — such as orchestration, encoding, packaging, stitching, and lite playout — while enabling remote operation and on-demand activation only when required.

Rather than focusing on technology refresh cycles, the discussion centers on operational design: how to create a single, consistent operational framework across a distributed broadcast footprint. Attendees will learn how centralized visibility, standardized workflows, and reduced manual intervention can improve reliability, accelerate the rollout of new services, and enable better cost-station control.

The session also addresses how broadcasters typically begin this journey. Instead of large-scale redesigns, many organizations start by improving operational visibility and standardizing incident and operational workflows, then expanding the centralized model incrementally over time.

Designed for broadcasters and affiliates, this session provides a practical perspective on how centralized broadcast operations can scale sustainably while preserving local flexibility and control.

Atheer Sabti, Enterprise Solutions Architect, HCLTech
Jonas Ribeiro, Head of Infrastructure and Telecom Products, Globo TV Brazil

Live video powers the highest-stakes moments on the internet, including sports, breaking news, live commerce, and interactive entertainment. These moments demand now, yet we run them on an internet built for eventually.
Our current infrastructure was designed for downloads and feeds. It is a world where packets are delivered… eventually. Live experiences, however, require packets predictably. If your business depends on real-time engagement, your competitor is not another platform. It is latency and variance. They cause buffering, out-of-sync chat, sudden quality drops, and streams that fail when millions show up at once.

In this next era of streaming, latency is the new bandwidth. This talk outlines a clear blueprint for a live-first internet. We will highlight where the seconds hide, what is fundamentally broken in the current stack, and what must be rebuilt so that live can finally mean real time.
